CAFE LODGE is a small cafe which is built in the yard of the residential area of Numazu-shi, Shizuoka.We expressed a commercial use by putting a stainless steel board on the facade, without using any graphic element. On this stainless facade, scaly pattern appears due to thermal contraction, and the aspect of the light appears due to the color of the sky and the movement of clouds. The internal floor is plastered by white epoxy based paint with spatula elaborately, and the silhouette of cherry tree in the garden reflects on the floor. This is the design intending to bring in subtle movement of the light of this residential area as the main factor of comfort and design of this café.
