IWADEYAMA JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

The Iwadeyama Junior High School is the project for replacing three former municipal junior high schools in the town and serves as the lifelong study base for people of the town. This school is situated on a small hill and the environmental equipment "wind of the wing" for windbreak and for lighting has become the landmark of the town too. Throughout the design process of the floor and the section planning, we emphasized "student’s attitude to thinks and behaves by oneself" in order to operate this school in “subject classroom-type” which was unusual at that time. We arranged the locker room "student lounge" where has the role of a meeting space of each class to face each other to sandwich the multipurpose hall "student forum" into a tiered stand, and set there as the daily life base for the student. We located "the media lounge" such as a book and a reference library classified in every system between a classroom and a laboratory. In addition, we collaborated with the designer of each field to integrate a signature, furniture with the building in this design process to create "the environment for this school".
